I am writing to warmly invite you, your family and friends to a free film premier of “Bikes for Africa” at the Grey Lynn Community Centre on the 21st of July from 7pm.
I am Midwifery Student at AUT, as well as currently studying International Development at Massey University. As part of my studies I have become more aware of the inequality that exists in the world and feel personally deeply challenged to do something about it!
Bikes for Africa is the entertaining, insightful and emotional New Zealand story following the life adventures of two cyclists as they travel through Africa on two wheels, and their attempt to help implement a self-sustainable bike workshop in rural Namibia.
All koha collected from the screening will go toward Bicycles For Humanity – a worldwide, grassroots, volunteer run organisation focused on simple, sustainable empowerment in the developing world. Bicycles for Humanity works in a transparent and practical way through breaking the cycle of poverty by providing sustainable transport.
We will also have a fantastic African dance and drumming troupe so if you feel in the mood please bring your dancing feet!
I look forward to seeing you and your whanau there!
