Table Mountain’s induction to the new seven natural wonders of the world is expected to yield returns of close to R1.4 billion over the next five years.
The iconic mountain is among seven new sites from around the world to be declared natural wonders.
The announcement sparked wild celebrations last night, putting a successful end to a year-long campaign.
Table Mountain was originally chosen as one of more than 400 global natural wonders
The other six natural wonders are the Amazon in South America, Halong Bay in Vietnam, Iguazu Falls in Argentina, Jeju Island off the Korean coast Komodo in Indonesia and the Puerta Princesa undergrounds rivers in the Philippines.
