This is the Official Facebook page of the Springboks – current holders of the Rugby World Cup and one of the top international rugby teams in the world.

The South African Rugby Union runs rugby in South Africa at all levels – from the Boks, Springbok Sevens, Springbok Women, Castle Tri-Nations, Vodacom Super Rugby, Absa Currie Cup, Vodacom Cup, SA Under 20 to the various competitions for Under 21s, Under 19s and at schools and club level.

The Springbok Sevens team won the IRB World Sevens Series for 2008/09, while the Boks – winners of the Rugby World Cup in 1995 as well – were named the IRB’s Team of the Year in 2009, adding to the same award at the prestigious Laureus Sports Awards in St. Petersburg at the end of 2007.

The national colours for South African rugby teams are green and gold. The Springboks first played Test rugby way back in 1891. Peter de Villiers is the current Head Coach and John Smit, the most experienced Test skipper ever, is captain of the Boks.
